MUSIC IN SCHOOL

The month of May will see an exciting new venture when all 3rd class students in the school will commence a programme of violin tuition as part of their curriculum during the school day. Classes will be in group format and a feature of the programme is that all students will participate with their teachers irrespective of previous musical experience. All instruments and equipment will be provided.

SPLASH AND DASH

In conjunction with Clare Sports Partnership, pupils from 5th and 6th class took part in the 'Splash and Dash' junior swim/run series in UL on April 12th. The children had a wonderful experience, culminating in sharing the training grounds with the Munster Rugby Squad.

SEACHTAIN NA GAEILGE

Holy Family became a mini Gaeltacht during the recent Seachtain na Gaeilge celebrations. Children from all classes took part in our Seanfhocal art competition. Our celebrations culminated in our Seachtain na Gaeilge Assembly, in which several children performed as Gaeilge.

Sisters of Mercy - A Celebration of Thanksgiving - September 23rd 2010

When Sr. Angela McMahon retired from Holy Family School on August 31st it marked the end of an era. She was the last Sister of Mercy on the staff and in celebrating her retirement the school community was also celebrating the contribution the Sisters of Mercy made to education in Ennis during the past 150 years.

To honour the Sisters for their dedication and commitment to education at Holy Family School, a special mass of Thanksgiving was celebrated in the Cathedral on Thursday, September 23rd 2010. Bishop Kieran O’Reilly celebrated the Mass and was joined by many other priests including the recently retired bishop, Bishop Willie Walsh. In his homily, Bishop O’Reilly paid tribute to the Sisters and thanked them for their enormous legacy to the parish of Ennis. The school band and choir provided wonderful music at the Mass. The celebration continued in the school hall afterwards.
